Longfield Hill Community Hall

A place for all

ABOUT
The Longfield Hill Community Hall was built in 1949 by funds supplied by KCC and managed by the Women's Institute for many years. In 1963 a Trust was formed to take over the role, made up of residents of Longfield Hill and representatives from the various groups using the hall. In 1995, as the community hall was primarily used by Scouts and Guides, the trustees handed over the management of the hall to the 1st New Barn Scout Executive and a lease drawn up between the two. They have worked successfully together since. In 2021 the Longfield Hill  Community Hall trustees group was reformed following the sad passing of a number of trustees with only one original trustee remaining. The reformed group consists of nine members representing the same groupings as before. The necessary Charity Commission requirements have been implemented and approved. The trustees continue to work closely with the 1st New Barn Executive with the aim of promoting continued safe and effective use of the hall. The hall is regularly used by Scouts, Guides, an Art Group, a Welcome Wednesday community group, a Christian Fellowship and ad-hoc users. It is also used by Dartford Borough Council as a polling station for local and general elections. The facilities within the hall include the main hall area, kitchen (including crockery and cutlery), toilets (including disabled access) as well as a table tennis, relaxation space in the front Portakabin. The hall is open to all to book subject to availability.
OUR CURRENT PROJECT
Having recently completed a successful internal refurbishment of the community hall, the hall users and local community now are working towards raising funds for an exterior overhaul to provide safe access to the hall and improve the frontage.  A donation page has been set up through Space Hive to allow members of the community to support this project.
